Pray To End Gulf Oil Spill!
In America, the most christian nation on Earth, hasn't anyone thought of this yet?
If Americans pray that their favorite sport's teams win games, help singers win big prizes, and help people become wealthy, why can't god be summoned to miraculously stop the oil spill...or to guide those who are working to stop the spill?
Not long ago a poster happily related that god helped him pay off an overdue phone bill (less than $100). The oil spill is far greater a disaster than an overdue phone bill. So shouldn't stopping the spill receive top priority?
A man in our community and a member of the local Presb. Church was given at least three months to get his life in order, given a cancer diagnosis. The congregation all fervently prayed for him, each and every week. Sadly, he then barely lasted two months.
"God has taken John to a better place!" we were told by the solemn minister. I wonder if this is how John felt about it
We'd better get our technical act together on this Gulf mega-disaster, ASAP. The scope of this situation is still not being properly reported, and that idiotic pseudo-Christian Rush Limbaugh continues to demo and spew his vast technical illiteracy with ideas that this may prove to be good for the Gulf, and that God will take care of it.
He should be forced to move his mansion down there, and also, if possible, downwind of a coal-fired power plant, with his water provided from a well in the mid-west where decades of toxin dispersion have permanently poisoned the ground water.
Hey; perhaps God did get even, by striking him stone-cold deaf.....
Yup. This is just like the now officially far less devastating Exxon Valdez spill.
Q: have any of you actually visited Alaska and, with your little portable shovel, dug down about 11 inches into the beach sand?
Suggestion: Do NOT ever trust mega-biz claims or their cutesy enviro-loving ads. Ever. They pray only to the $$$ God, with a select few receiving truly obscene salaries and benefits.

The oil spill is not God's responsibility. Man made it happen, man can clean it up.
Your true colors are showing...In other words you say the hell with the environment, as long as there is something in it for you...What is that, the doctrine of greed? Your post deserves a listing in the hall of shame...I'm afraid praying isn't gonna help this mess....
There is an old Russian proverb..."Pray to God, fine; but keep rowing to shore."
Sooner or later the oil spill will get cleaned up. Then someone is going to 'praise god' that it's cleaned up and give NO credit to the bunches of people who are out there working on it.
Exactly. PS: I sent in my technical suggestion this morning. An engineering solution they seem to have missed so far. They were very polite and interested on their hot-line phone, and promised they'd have a thoughtful look at it!
Who, by the way knows, if the density of Oil from this spill in particular, could alter the over-all density of the sea water enough to change the direction of the Gulf Stream for the flow straightening OR weakening. No such luck, eh? It alters only the activity of living organisms in the system.
