You will see from the OP's third post that his roommate is on the lease. This is not a subleasing situation.

Hey everyone. My roommate has recently gotten in trouble and will not be back for a long time. He is from out of the country and I know nothing about his family.

That whole thing worries me ..
why is he running? will he be deported when caught? yeh I am asking is he illegal? Sure sounds that way.. are drugs involved? Maybe since the cops trashed his room looking for something ..

your trying to be to nice to some one who put YOU in danger with his issues .. that's not right either
You owe him nothing at this point .. and its possible that the cops will be back to check if he is around .. are you willing to risk that happening again? You could be charged with coupla things if they find he is there ..or has been..

Not to be cold, but it wasn't you that did anything wrong. Why should you have to take the responsibility of packing and storing his stuff./

I would move and leave his stuff, unfortunetely the LL will have to deal with it, and will probably have to seek legal advice on how to 'get rid' of the tenants stuff. I know you cant just throw it out. But it may be years before he comes back, if ever.

I agree with the other poster that said to pack things that are irreplaceable, (photos, jewelry, stuff like that), but dishes radios, who cares about.
