Alright, so while I was not convinced about the whole idea of providing my SSN card while I had already provided all other forms of ID documents including the SSN itself, I spoke with the property manager to discuss the underlying issue. At the end, I was able to get him to glance over it for his own sake (that is all he did) and not keep a copy. Matter resolved and housing formally approved.
