Medicaid is not Medicare.

Medicare Interactive - Am I eligible for Medicare if I am under 65?

They have to be to keep the doors open and then that isn't often enough...

Several large Bay Area Hospitals have recently closed or were donated to the County... they just could not make it with 80% with no insurance or Alameda Alliance...

Once a person has Section 8 they are automatically qualified for dozens of programs here... Section 8 is the gateway to access the system.

Surely, there must be some Section 8 recipients who truly merit and qualify for this government assistance. Sadly, most people I've met through life's journey who received this assistance were "entitlement minded" types with low dignity and zero ambition to find employment.

As with the proverbially Biblical "poor," the lazy will always be among us. Gov't assistance programs, though well meaning, may have fueled the numbers of entitle minded lazy types, robbing them of any incentive to find a means to EARN an honest wage.

I had my annual Section 8 inspection. I wanted to simply have the Completion of Repairs formed signed by both parties and submitted to Section 8, but there was no way to get in touch with the landlord to get the forms. So, I ended up scheduling a re-inspection, but they found even more problems with the apt, reported it to the landlord, and still nothing from the landlord. I left numerous voice messages, sent letters (regular and certified), and still nothing.

I've been living there for 25 years. It's in Brooklyn, NY. And this case has now dragged on for almost 6 months. My Section 8 voucher is set to expire at the end of May, and I simply can't move to another apt due to health issues. I'm freaking out! What am I to do? Will I end up losing Section 8 if I don't move? Is there any recourse for this? Please help!!!! Any advice would be appreciated!
Sounds like the landlord is trying to get you out so they can raise the rent. Good luck.

From that point on, every additional question was met with the unmistakable attitude of "I already told you what to do, what else do you want, go away." What can I do at this point?
In a case like this I would ask to speak to a supervisor. You can't be evicted right away, and a judge determines if yo will be evicted or not, sounds like the landlord is playing games and the judge won't like it. Let him know if you lose your section 8 because of him you will sue him.

In contrast, most people don't spend 25 years taking mortgage interest deductions. The rich do, and many who repeatedly trade up to bigger homes do, but overall, most people don't.
What area does it take five years? In my area, it takes 8-10 years to get to the top of the waiting list.

I don't understand why you can't contact the landlord, are they MIA or something? Surely you've had contact with them before?

Unfortunately, when you live off a system you must follow the rules of the system. I have no idea what your housing rules and regulations are or if they will try to move you but you aren't calling the shots here. 25 years is longer in place than most people ever live so I don't think you have any reason to complain, especially if you get into another place without having to do the legwork. My guess it that a lot of people in worse shape than you health wise have to deal with moving and rent and whatnot on a fairly regular basis.

oh come on. so, how much of a time limit do you propose for disabled people and elderly who live on 750 bucks a month? time limits are for able bodied wage earners, people who can move up in life, not people who are disabled. perhaps you would like to increase the hundreds of thousands of disabled and elderly now populating our city sidewalks as homeless?????
