Loud tv blasting from the living room that is 10 feet away from my bedroom at 3:00 am. But, I don't want to say anything because according to most of the posters on my last thread, "I shouldn't ask him to "alter his lifestyle"...

If you were in an apt building and could hear his tv at 0300 then yes, you could file a complaint with the landlord. You are renting a room, in a private house, that is not set up for multi family living. You're going to hear a lot more noise than you bargained for.

It seems to me that you're not really happy where you are. Maybe you need to think about moving.

Kim, it is only two of us in the house. His room is upstairs. It finally stopped at 3:35 in the morning. Loud, blaring TV. I mean blaring like someone is playing loud music at a party. Again, the living room is right next to my bedroom. Don't act like this is ordinary please. I'm going to have to talk to him.

yes. Talk to him first. Then move. Unless he would consider using headphones. Then he can listen as loud as he likes.

I don't believe this has been said. What has likely been suggested is that you politely explain the problem to him - which is what most rational people would do.

This is ordinary for a single family home and you live in a single family home.

You should've talked to him a long time ago.........

Kim, you know that this is not ordinary for this type of noise to be going on at 3:00 AM in any kind of household. Those are times when people are trying to sleep and you KNOW this.

I read Kim's comment as noting that the travel of sound between walls in a SFH isn't out of the ordinary. No loud and disturbing noise is acceptable at 3AM when others are trying to sleep. Talk to your landlord.

Here's a thought. Step out of your room and say hey dude, can you turn it down a bit, i'm tryin to sleep here and its awfully loud through the walls.

Problem solved.

its funny how your first thought is to instead come here to gripe about your landlord roommate instead of talking to him first.
