I'm pretty sure it'll be enough as long as you're reasonable regarding housing costs. Probably won't be able to live in SF, but I've seen 1 BR condos in Walnut Creek for under 125K.

Well anywhere in Bay Area would be nice. Just not Oakland.

Why San Francisco? I haven't read all of your posts in this thread, so I don't know if you have ever visited there before. For myself, that and New York City are the very last places I would want to live, even if the rent were free. It might be a good place to visit once in a while, but actually living there, I can't understand it. Last time I was in SF was 1993, I saw an apartment near the University Hospital advertised for $6000 a month. Parking near the hospital was $15 a day. No place on this earth is that damn good. I don't like the traffic there, all the people are in a hurry, life must be lived in the fast lane to survive. There is nothing outside the city except dried up grass covered hills and more houses.

As a native California, I believe this is just the way we are here: fast. There's nothing inherently wrong with this. For instance, I love the south, but I find everything and everyone there so SLOW. They drive slow, talk slow, service in restaurants is slow... drives me nuts.

It's just a cultural difference. Just as many people from Georgia or Tennessee would find California horrendously fast-paced, many Californians would go crazy at how slow-paced life is there.

I said SF but its the most popular city in Northern California. As long as its in Bay Area. I lived 13 years in San Jose and 2 years in Hayward. Pretty much grew up there.

SF is heaven!
