Maternal grandmother at 87 I believe. That was almost 40 years ago. The average age of death of men in my family is 71 which, coincidentally, is the age at which my father died. My mother died at age 67. I intend to outlive them both. I just turned 67 myself.

My dad was a coal miner, chemical worker and smoked cigarettes since his early teens and lived to be 10 days short of his 89th birthday Mom stayed at home and raised 15 children and 1 grand child. She lived to be 87, just a month short of her 88th birthday. They were born in 1913 and 1914 and lived through some very rough times.

We've got some longevity on this string!

My father is living, but not thriving at 86.
