Durham is a terrific place to live if you love good food and good people. Downtown is developing but still not quite a walkable urban experience. Maybe soon. Great healthcare in the area with Duke and UNC.

Tucson is also nice. Great university. Wonderful weather. Lot of wealthy people have homes in the area but keep it on the down low.

Charleston is a vibrant, beautiful town.

Jackson has that Sweet Potato Queen festival in the spring, which sounds like a hoot.

I agree. Being able to get out and walk every day is a huge plus factor in successful aging. Being able to walk to grocery stores and restaurants is even better.
