Sorry, but not all, or even most of us, buy it. Nearly half a century later, this era, and the mindset of those that fueled it, are viewed with contempt and revulsion, not admiration by those of us that chose not to join in.
Back in high school, in the late 60's, I knew many who got so drugged out (Alcohol is a drug) on those all-nite keg parties, lots of stupid, irresponsible things were done, memories of it lost, and, back then, with no MADD around, and sobriety checkpoints, they luckily escaped jail time, imprisonment.

I used to hear of the wild tales that would be told on Monday's, in high school, and some were still hung over!

At work, in 10th grade, I met up with a hippie-type that had just come back from Chicago, who introduced me to a wonderful alternative to those keg parties! And I never looked back!

I wonder how many people under 35 can say "at work in 10th grade."

Has the USA gotten better since the 1960s or worse?
More suicides
55 million abortions
18 trillion dollars of debt
Divorce rate doubled
Pornography is mainstream
Children out of wedlock exploded

Having a sober mind, admitting when we were wrong, treating women with respect, loving children, being God fearing and not trying to be so selfish gives us piece of mind. Pot and wild sex were temporary excitements that makes people want more. Lovers of pleasure that has no limits creates an emptiness and loneliness. The search never ends for that "party".
