Funny, I've always had a deliberate zen non-attachment to most things once reaching legal age because I moved around so much, 24+ addresses iirc. The 2 exceptions were art/artifacts picked up in different places or from significant people in my life & the records I had started to collect from the Beatles onward. I really "got into" music & most of my teenage friends were in bands so I guess my albums represent them & those wacky times. I never had much money to spare so each record I bought had to be carefully considered & passionate about.
Those folks are long gone from my life & most of the really close ones that we would sit together & listen through, say... the new Stones album, they're gone from this earth now. I think my 100 or so albums slouching on the shelf in the corner represent those friends & I am loathe to dump them. I think that may be why I haven't digitized them like I have my cds & stored in a box somewhere.
And.... I told you I was a Top 40 guy, so don't judge me. A lot if stuff exists on CD only at this point. 10 years from now I'll post something about de-cluttering and getting rid of my CD's...
I have been sitting on 6 whisky bottle cartons full of albums/records (1960's to maybe 1990ish) for 4 years and unsure what to do with them. Any ideas?
They run from Ellington Live at Newport to CSN's Suite Judy Blue Eyes.
Well, after my inquiry from yesterday, and some helpful links from Animal Crazy and my own research, I decided to open up the box of 78s I inherited and put them on a list. I now know that just about everything I own is very common, or unwanted. In other words, junk!
I guess it might be alright to use the diamond tip needle after all.

Catalog them, post the list on Google Docs and post that link here just as Newport did. That way I and others may want some.
I saw an interesting segment on Rachel Ray where the guest host used old albums as party invitations, decorations, etc. Can't remember all of it, just go to her website & search for it if interested.
My late husband was big time audiophile and he actually sold audio equipment for a living. I still have many many albums of his which will go eventually, and last year was able to sell most of the equipment including these monster Carver speakers that a guy actually drove from TN to R.I. to purchase. Glad someone will appreciate those speakers because I never did as they were huge dust collectors and took of most of my living room space.
