I do not understand. Why wait? If you think, as I do, that your benefit is too low (i.e., not calculated properly), why not do it now? You deserve the correct benefit as provided by law. All you have to lose is a couple of hours of your time.
Medical reasons have me semi-housebound. I can drive one day a week 30 miles to the grocery or Dr.’s office as long as it is not over a couple of hours. And even though I am retired I haven’t been idle. I have worked on getting a new boat dock for 6 years. It is approved and when in place, I will request a meeting with the U. S. Army, Corp. of Engineers to correct an erroneous survey which I have worked on for forty years. So the Social Security office will be in line after the other priorities ….or not. Right now Medicare is paying for my colostomy supplies, I am not sure what the future has in store. You have no doubt heard, “Leave a sleeping dog lay?”. Thank you again for your help Escort Rider, you satisfied my curiosity. As time allows I have another question about property taxes I will pose to the thread for opinions.

O.K., I understand better where you are coming from. I'll stop harping on it!

You do NOT need to go to a Social Security Office, you can handle every issue that does not require the signing of documents over the phone. I have never set foot in a SS office. I applied over the phone, I had two issues with my earnings not being reported correctly and handled those over the phone. I'm sorry that you are plagued with so many disabilities, I mean that sincerely- but if you can type on these forums it seems to me that you should be able to pick up a phone
"you can speak to a Social Security representative between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Generally, you’ll have a shorter wait time if you call during the week after Tuesday. If you are deaf or hard of hearing, call our toll-free TTY number, 1-800-325-0778, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday." Contact Social Security By Phone
