No. Anywhere in the West will not have hot muggy summers, just hot.

Year around temps of 76-86 with both sun and rain is perfect for us. We moved to Maui when we retired. We do not have (or need) either a house heater or air conditioner. It is humid (about 60%) but rarely is muggy. Cold weather makes my feet and joints hurt.

- This being retir.forum is EXACTLY what's helping me greatly right now to properly adjust my long-term plans. It's a great brainstorming place.

- 65 ? I absolutely do not plan to work myself to death till 65. I'm readjusting my finances/investments so I can retire at 55 (or hopefully few yrs sooner).

- If I could retire now, I would have no issue with spending the time at all.

- If I have to choose between, say, $5k per month benefits at 70, or, $2.5k per month at, say, 55-60, I choose the lower amount.

You can always spend 10 times more money than you earn, but you can never get even a second of time that has passed back.

Besides, what's the point of waiting till 70 to maximize the retir.income, if at 70 I'm physically unable to undergo the expeditions I always wanted to do ? At 55, it's still doable (most of them), but 65-70 ? Hardly, regardless of money in my 401k...
I would strongly urge you to rethink your 2.5k vs 5k comparison!!!

Why ? If he can afford it, go for it.

This. The only thing I'd consider racing at that age is my rocking chair

Not below 60 but not over 95 degrees...

No natural disasters... never understood why someone would live (and raise children) in Tornado Alley, for instance. Always seemed dumb to live so close to death.

We obviously run in different crowds. I have multiple friends over 70 years old and even a couple that are over 80, who race all the time. And there are quite a few of that set that take a yearly trip to England or Australia to the world championships.

Different strokes.

My ideal climate would be perpetual Autumn...Indian Summer-type weather...warmish sunny days and crisp nights. Low humidity. I know where to find it, it's just unaffordable for such as me...!

We moved to Maui for retirement as well but we are on the Leeward side in Kihei. It does get a bit too hot here in late summer but just for a couple of months. We get almost no rain at all, the general lack of storms is nice and the winters are near perfect. Obviously we have no real 'usual' 4 seasons like OP is looking for but we can tolerate the endless summer thing.

I think the northern part of the Ozarks are quite close to what OP has described, gorgeous part of the country.
