Why are there so many older retired people playing slots at casinos? (beach, inheritance)

My mom lives in Oklahoma. They have several casinos that send out coupons for $5 to use in the slots. She can play penny or nickle games for several hours without costing her very much. She meets her sorority ladies there and they have lunch. Its what she does instead of going to movies and probably doesn't cost any more.

All of that ^^^^^ and there are also other free comps as long as you use the casino's Players Card. Free tickets to concerts etc., free hotel rooms, comps on card that can be used to shop or eat in restaurants/stores in the casino. Comps are based on play but even small betters will build up comps over time.

Baloney !
#1 reason is the "rush" they get when they win.
Anyone saying different isn't being truthful !

That is what I think - why go if you don't want to win?
And smoking? No thanks. And indoors all the time. I like the fresh air and sunshine.
I just think of the ladies from my small town that go. Not much money and church goers. I always thought if you went to church - gambling was a no-no. But no - they will hop in their cars and go to a casino about 100 miles away along the border of south texas. I forget what it is called.
But get them to do something at the church they attend? NO. I just don't get it. The priest is always looking for help. He tries to wrangle me in - lol. Nice guy. His congregation has their priorities reversed.
I'm not a church goer myself, but if you are going to be a member of something, give it 100%.
I don't care how cheap it is to go, around here the people I see going, should not be spending even 5 dollars there!
