Mumblety peg anyone?

My dad taught me in the early '50s. He also bought me this book: https://www.amazon.com/How-Nothing-N.../dp/0982053959

Haven't thought of any of this in decades. Great memories. Thank you, Mr5150!

Default Revell, Monogram, Tamiya...

Not retired yet (December this year). I went back to building plastic models. Mostly aircraft. And all the joy of building has returned with it.

Boy, that's the truth! Also, grammar and spelling.

What kills me is that they stopped teaching cursive ib our area. Kids can not even read our Constitution

Letter writing, period. I used to love getting and sending letters in the mail. Pretty stationary and envelopes and stamp collecting.

Lost art as far as I am concerned.
That's called TEXTING now!

Sorry No More Snow - you beat me too it!

I mean in some regards I'd hope texting or reading the news, etc. on your phone is more productive than literally twiddling your thumbs. On the other hand, people don't seem to spend any time THINKING any more - being alone with their thoughts. They're either texting or playing a game or listening to music...I always wonder why people seem to be so afraid to have a single moment of time that can be used just to ponder something or to wonder about something, or to mull something over? It's like hyperactivity that has to be constantly fed...not healthy in its extreme, that's for sure.

If the spelling and grammar get much worse, it's going to be impossible to read anything here on CD. As it is, sometimes I can't figure out what they're trying to say. Seems as though a lot of people want to put an apostrophe anywhere they feel like putting it, including forming plurals with apostrophes. "The house's down the street arent selling because of the affect of the lose fund's." (Senseless sentence anyway, but I just made it up to demonstrate today's punctuation and spelling.) "Their was a sail, today so I bought something for she." They insert commas as if it makes them look smart to do so, they think they should use "I" or "she" or "he" as the object of a preposition, they can't distinguish one synonym from another, etc. (I guess I should say, "AND etc. lol.)

We all make typos but these are not typos; they're blatant grammatical errors based upon lack of knowledge.

And the loss of cursive, don't get me started. Hope they never want to read their mother's old letters or look up their family history. Genealogy will become a lost art because they have to be able to READ.
