My sister and I, both senior citizens, are living in the Boston area, and need to move to a less expensive, friendlier place. We want affordable rents, temperate weather, and nice neighbors. We are friendly, conservative Christians looking for the same. Where would you recommend we look?
I think that most people can find anywhere to be 'friendly', it depends on your attitude and making friends with your neighbors.
For example, I have a studio apartment that is 1600 sq ft, hardwood floor throughout, a huge bay window overlooking a small town riverside park, with a separate large licensed commercial kitchen, that is currently rented for $700/month [heat included].
I am in the process of remodeling ten small single-occupancy efficiency apartments [220 to 250 sq ft each], bathroom, kitchen, and a shared laundry room, they will be renting for $300 to $400/month.
My apartments are located in a small town, with metro bus stop at the curb, near a state university, on the same block as a Subway sandwich shop and a bar&grill diner, and a 30-minute drive from the ocean.
I was going to recommend my community as we have a lot of New England/NY transplants - but the temperate weather request is probably a deal breaker as it gets hot down here during summer/fall months (Tampa Bay area, FL).
Not enough info. You can do a lot of research online to narrow down what you are looking for. Also go on a few trips...Florida, the Carolinas maybe. North Carolina is beautiful, but not for everyone.....the only way to know is to visit

I see you are in Western Colorado. I've met a surprising number of people who had lived in Grand Junction, and they all said they loved it. It's also a great climate. I've passed through a number of times and it seemed very nice. Any comment on that?

Sounds like a motel that has been turned into efficiencies.
