I’m about 1 1/2 miles(2 mins) from the bay and about a 7 min drive to the Atlantic. I don’t think I’ll be any further from the ocean for the rest of my life. Hoping for ocean front once I retire.

My only negative would be hurricane's but as I said every area has something. We haven't flooded where we live and just ride it out but we now own a generator just in case. It's pretty much flip flops and shorts year round down here. Did I mention that we love it?

That's not the ocean though.

Hey, I just realized there's no rust here either, unlike at home. Could it be we are on high cliffs above the Atlantic? It's only a few yards away but 200 feet down...

When I read the 1st response in this thread at 1st I thought it was a flip answer but it's actually correct. You can live in a beach town and be near the ocean without having an oceanfront home.
There are also places where you can be near the ocean without being overrun by tourists.
Yeah, like Ecuador. We're usually the only ones on the beach, far as you can see, LOL.

Uh oh. My other comment got in the middle of yours, starting with "hey". Oops.
