Good and lucky for you in finding a purposely built building.
Our condo building was built for independent senior living. Wide hallways, apartment, bedroom & bath entrances. In the building phase, it was changed to condo units and thus we had bathtubs. We changed main bath to lowlip clearance, shower and with horizontal and vertical bar grips. Building was already 20yo. Added electrical sockets for washlet bidets.
As we get older, may rip out carpet.
The lack of decent and desirable situational housing for seniors is somewhat disturbing in light of the fact that older people become less capable of living in a traditional house. My area has a couple of these over 62 apartments with a full time manager on the premises, not nearly enough capacity when considering the huge demand. I would say that your SIL is fortunate to have such housing in her area, we need a lot more of that transitional housing, those places that will serve our needs while we are still upright and mobile.
