We live in MA and are entertaining the idea of buying a vacation property in Portsmouth. Any advise where toblook? We dont want to spend too much so we have no illusions about beach proximity. But it seems that wherever we would be would be closet than massachusetts.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Thanks
How much do you have to spend? Why are you interested in Portsmouth? Don't forget Tiverton and Little Compton are nice if you like rural areas and probably have nicer beaches than Portsmouth, which isn't known for its beaches. There's also Middletown which does have a very nice beach at Second Beach and of course there's Newport. Bristol is nice for sailing and if you want a quaint New Englandy waterfront town with pretty parks and views of the Bay. Middletown might actually be less expensive than Portsmouth because the schools are better in Portsmouth than in Middletown. I'd look on Trulia.com and see what you come up with. They have a neat mapping feature so you can see where the homes for sale are located in relation to landmarks etc.
Perhaps the best way to go for a vacation house would be a condo?
I see about 10 in Portsmouth in the 175 to 285k range.
