There should be an inscription, most likely on the back that reads:
"Sons of Liberty"
Upon this corner stood Sabin Tavern in which on the evening of June 9th 1772 the party and organized to destroy the H.R.M. schooner Gaspee. In the destruction of which was shed the first blood in the American Revolution
Son of a gun! You're right. And when you're right, you're right!
Wait. You've never heard of the Gaspee Affair? Why, some say it is the true first act in the American Revolution. It occurred in June 1772. Here's a link.
An annual celebration called "Gaspee Days" just occurred days ago...
EDIT: Truth be told, I had completely forgotten about that page in US History until I moved to Rhode Island, and only looked into it after living here a couple of years. Massachusetts does a really good job of playing up their role in the American Revolution, while Rhode Island takes a more lackadaisical approach to our role in the story.
I'd never heard of it until I moved here. In my former home of Pawtuxet Village, the site of the celebration (though not quite the site of the Affair itself; it occurred just outside the Village limits), everyone knows about the Gaspee Affair, but I've found it's not universally known statewide.

statewide, it is not known nationwide. It was the first physical act against unfair taxation by the English, but better press in Boston has the Tea Party considered the first act 18 months later. Rhode Island at that time was known as the Rogue's Island, we had a reputation back then as dissidents and connivers. Perhaps that is why the burning of the Gaspee didn't get the attention it deserved. Rhode Island, first of the 13 to announce its revolt against Engalnd, May 4, 1776. Two months before the other 12 colonies. And it was the last of the 13 colonies to ratify the Constitution under threat of attack by the other colonies, May 29, 1790. We have always had an attitude.

Alas. Maybe one of the non-resident experts who know the state like the backs of their hands will chime in with an answer... but the smart money is on sandsonik, neguy99, Chicago3rd, or independent man for the win.
I admit it is a challenging one.
