Winter looms over one's shoulder like the shadow of a mugger over his intended victim, but it is quite hard to recall this nightmare with today's gorgeous weather.

What was your highlight of this summer?

For me, summer really dragged because of the Sox. I mean, the summer of 2013 was utterly electric v-- it was thrilling. That year's highlight was of David Ortiz taking out the phone in the bullpen, Plus, you know, winning the WS.

Next year, right?

I'm not sure one memory jumps out this summer. The Sox plummet sure made it a lot easier to get Sox tickets. But Lord, quite boring games, even if we did get to move down to the box seats after everyone cut out early. Springing for the Red Sox Nation membership was worth it, just for the chance to watch batting practice from the Wall, and the Bleacher bar is highly recommended. I can't believe the Sox allow it, really. Getting to go on the field for a Tom Petty concert was more fun than any of those games, even if the security were Nazis. For that matter, Jeffrey Osborne's charity softball game at McCoy was better than the Sox games. Still, I always enjoy Fenway, and got to see Carlton Fisk.

I went to a few Revs games for the first time ever. We were just giving it a try to cross it off the list, but my husband and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Now he's taping every MLS game on tv, trying to learn the details of the game and we're considering season tickets. We went to a Newport polo match as well, always fun to pretend you're rich and living the high life, LOL.

But I think my favorite summer memory will probably be Second Beach followed by a late lunch at Flo's on just the most perfect summer day!

Outdoor picnics. Long beautiful days of bright blue skies and warm sunshine amidst the blooming flowers. Water views with sail boats in the harbor.

My dog got herpes after a jaunt in Cumberland. Didn't know that was even possible. Summer 2014 was one to remember. Especially for my dog. It will literally always be with him.
