We've been to Newport but never the Jazz fest. We'll be renting a condo downtown. Are there shuttles to the fort from downtown? I know there is the water taxi, but are there other ways to get there besides driving yourself?
Any tips, tricks anyone has about attending the fest, bring 'em on. We like to be prepared.

Newport has a pedicab service: Newport Pedicab

I see a lot of these around and they seem to be a good way to get through the traffic.

I know the water taxi goes to Ft Adams, but are there shuttles from downtown to the jazz fest? I don't see one listed but I thought there might be one during the fest. I'm trying to line up transportation other than driving ourselves and one of our group is not a "boat" person. If that's the easiest way, an application of alcohol may be necessary.

No, it's only water taxi from downtown. Otherwise, you park at Ft Adams.

Wouldn't a regular taxi be an alternative to get to Ft. Adams?

Lol...that makes sense. I imagine they have shuttle vans for 6 people? Any other tips, tricks on attending the Fest? Things to bring, time to get there and what to expect?

blindfold the non boat person as the water shuttle is the best way there. Taxis exist in the same traffic as other motor vehicles.

That would be one heck of a taxi bill!!!!!!!!!

There's basically one way in to Ft Adams and one way out by motor vehicle.
