I may be getting a job in the Richmond area and I will need to live within an hour of the airport (RIC). I would prefer to live more to the east towards Hampton Roads since I have family there. Can anyone recommend some good cities/neighborhoods? Safety is important. Waterfront would be nice, but not a requirement. Thanks!

I don't think you can live in Hampton Roads and still be within an hour of the Richmond International Airport.. also depending on traffic you may be able to find something downtown near the James but that is cutting it close (in proximity to the airport) could be wrong though..

Without traffic, I would be an hour and a half from where the family is and that apparently won't cut it for the prospective employer. I know I could easily go to Williamsburg or Yorktown and find a place, but I was hoping to hear what you guys in the area would suggest as safe, nice places. Thanks!

Ashland is forty minutes away. There are varying definitions of safety.Good luck.
