Relocating from SC and deciding on an area. I have read the Virginia report cards and compared Goochland and Henrico Schools. But, I was wondering if anyone has sent their kids to Goochland and what experiences you have had? Thanks!

Well this is a little late - you can search my posts and see other comments on Goochland's schools.

If you'll grab a copy of the most recent Richmond Magazine, there's an article about the best schools in the area. Read the first couple of pages of the article & see what it says about Goochland's education system.

The best schools in the area are in Western Henrico and Midlothian. Mechanicsville also has some very good schools. Also, if you have an academically inclined child, Chesterfield and Henrico have options in middle and high school which aren't offered in the smaller counties and very strong gifted programs.

If you want schools that promote standardized test scores (drill & kill instruction), check out School Digger for the best of those around.

If you want schools that promote deeper personalized learning, check out the only two school divisions in Virginia to be recognized as Future Ready schools: Dashboard Dash Winners Announced! - Future Ready Schools

You won't find any schools in the Richmond area (including expensive private ones) able to leverage technology to so powerfully transform classroom pedagogy as those in Goochland.
