Won't find indoor courts without joing a club, unfortunately. The best outdoor courts that I have played are the ones at Rivers Edge. They are pretty poplular. You may want to check out the ones in SORO next to Carilion too.

Here's a list of indoor and outdoor courts.
My son took lessons at N-Dor Tennis Club on Aerial Drive. It's a no-frills club so I'm sure it's cheaper than the country clubs. Sun Tennis Center is also tennis-only, so probably cheaper than the cc's too.
Edited to say he took informal lessons from a member; N-Dor doesn't offer lessons, there's no tennis pro there, no shop/racquet stringing, etc.

Indoor courts
NDor on Aerial drive, is very reasonable, membership is $55.00 a year and you pay for court times. The thing is, you have to find a group to play in and join. Also Ridgewood Tennis, contact Mike at 556-1096.
