we are from Ohio and my husband just got a job working with the Redwings for the next season. A few of his future co-workers told us a bit about the area and so far we've gotten good reviews, but my questions are, how are the school districts? we have 2 daughter 3 and 13. my oldest is starting HS in September and is a competitive cheerleader so we want to keep her in an all star gym..does anyone know any WINNING gyms? it doesnt have to be in the area but somewhere it wont take 2 hours to get to. we dont want to live in a rural area considering we are so used to getting in the car and going to the nearest store in no more than 15minutes. and also is henrietta a diverse area? it can get tiring looking at the same kinds of people everyday LOL
Henrietta is perfect as far as shopping, good schools and having diversity. Brighton just north of Henrietta would be perfect as well and the schools are arguably the best in the area. Not sure about gyms though.
Henrietta is awesome, and the Rochester region as a whole can't be beat, it really is the cream of the crop as far as top regions in the country you could live in.

Man, you just can't help yourself. Way to hijack the thread.
My thoughts exactly. Actually Brighton schools are very good and are very diverse relatively speaking. About 13-15% of the students in Brighton schools are Asian, about 9% are Black and about 3-5 % are Hispanic. Rush-Henrietta schools are about 15% Black, about 7-8% Asian and about 3-5% Hispanic. So, both SD's are pretty diverse. West Irondequoit, Gates-Chili, East Irondequoit and Greece are also relatively diverse suburban SD's, but there is some in the other suburban and even small town SD's too. I believe that even Wheatland-Chili SD student enrollment is about 10% Black.
Heck, if anyone watched the Class AA state championship for Football, you would think that Rush-Henrietta's Black percentage was much higher, as the team was probably mostly Black. Same for their Basketball team. Gates-Chili and Eastridge(East Irondequoit's HS) are like that as well.

For schools, check here : GreatSchools - Public and Private School Ratings, Reviews and Parent Community Go to NY, then click on search by address. From there pick Monroe County and from there you can look at the school districts in the county. It will give all kinds of info. about test scores, demographics and other topics.
For the record, I didn't mean Jewville as an insult - just that Brighton has a higher concentration of Jewish people relative to the rest of Rochester. Besides, they increase property values so it's one of the better options (along with some parts of Henrietta).
