Will be moving to the Rochester area next month and was wondering where people get their cable and internet from. I've had TWC for the last few years and hope to not have to go back to them.
I'm just looking for a basic channel package (ESPN, Disney, History, etc) and internet good enough for quick surfing and streaming Netflix. Any recommendations? Thanks
Time Warner, it's the only decent option for internet for most, and I don't feel like dealing with two companies for this stuff so I have TV through them too for now. I don't really hate them as much as others may, I just feel like it's so expensive for what you get.
My neighborhood did just make the Greenlight expansion list last week though, and I will be jumping ship to them for internet whenever we get enough orders for construction to begin. Will likely switch to satellite TV at that point too if it looks better than TW, haven't really investigated yet though.
DirecTV for TV, and Roadrunner for internet. Depending on where exactly you live, and when I say that I mean literally exactly where in terms of hundreds of feet, Frontier DSL would be a viable option for your internet needs. Or if you move somewhere lucky enough to receive Greenlight fiber like UncleBenny, that'd be your best bet if it's cost effective.
Just keep in mind that if you're moving to an apartment, you might be stuck with TWC for cable, unless you're lucky enough that they'll let you mount a dish.
If you can get Greenlight, get it. I just got it two weeks ago, fiber to the house- it's great! Prior, I had Time Warner on one of their higher tier plans. I ran into bandwidth issues on weekends, especially when college was back in town. Frontier offers the slowest speeds of DSL. They haven't even made a pretense to invest into their network here. Time Warner is your best bet if you can't get Greenlight.
