Mom-in-law will be arriving this coming weekend! She loves unique shops so I'm looking for ideas. Not clothing, more like dishware, pottery, decorative items, art. Thinking of trying Parkleigh in Rochester, and we're planning a day down in Hammondsport (the little shops there are the type of places she enjoys.)

Since you will be down in Hammondsport I would HIGHLY suggest visiting The Windmill Farm & Craft Market in Penn Yan, which is just north of Hammondsport. They are only open on Saturdays from 8:00-4:30. There are over 175 indoor/outdoor shops with pretty much everything you can think of! I would suggest getting there early because it does tend to fill up later in the day. From there you can just head right down NY-54 along Keuka Lake which will take you right into Hammondsport.

Here is a link to the website to give you more of an idea of what all they have there.

Default Spa options and Christmas lights

My mom-in-law and her sister are coming to visit next month. (Mother-in-law absolutely loved the area when she visited us a couple months ago and is now talking about moving here, which I would love!)

I want to take the girls for a spa day and I'm trying to decide which spa. I was looking at Mirbeau in Skaneateles https://www.skaneateles.mirbeau.com/spa and Willowbrook at the Lake House in Canandaigua https://www.lakehousecanandaigua.com...llowbrook-spa/. I want to choose a place that has something special about it beyond the typical spa services - like Mirbeau has unique water features and Willowbrook has interesting barrel saunas. Has anyone been to these spas or is there another one closer to home that you recommend?

I'm also looking for Christmas light viewing ideas. Maybe a neighborhood that goes all-out with their displays or is there a house around here that does the synchronized lights with music? Or events like this Liberty Pole lighting https://www.cityofrochester.gov/libertypolelighting/ (doesn't coincide with their visit dates but this is the type of thing I'm looking for.)

Thank you!

If you go with Mirbeau, which is in the Syracuse area, swing by Liverpool just north of Syracuse and check this big light display out that is currently up and running: https://www.lightsonthelake.com/

Directions from Mirbeau to Lights on the Lake/Onondaga Lake Park: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Mirb...43.0984276!3e0 (take the gray route, as the entry into the display is easier coming from the south on Onondaga Lake Parkway)

On a side note, Skaneateles also has this on the weekends starting after thanksgiving: https://www.skaneateles.com/calendar...kens-christmas

If you want lights in the area, this offers some great suggestions: https://daytrippingroc.com/christmas-lights/
