We're spending a lot of time in Henrietta lately. There's more racial diversity in Henrietta than we see in many of the other suburbs. And what's really beautiful is that it's not just diversity, it seems like real integration.

Rochester is obviously racially diverse but is it actually much more segregated than Henrietta? What are the most integrated neighborhoods in the city?

Brighton is somewhat diverse compared to other suburbs. And we've been told Brockport has some diversity because of the university there.

Anyway, I'm just curious to know your thoughts about actual integration in the locations that are more racially diverse.

To be honest, that is one of the reasons why if I lived in the Rochester area, Henrietta would be one of the suburbs I would move to. Historically, it has been ahead of the game in that regard, as far as suburbs go in the area. Having RIT in the town doesn't hurt either. Chili, Gates, Greece and Irondequoit are similar in that regard as well. Actually the area my sibling live in in Chili(around Paul Road not too far from the airport to the west) is relatively diverse and appears to have some integration in terms of interaction.

Within the city, I'd say in parts of the NE Quadrant like Homestead Heights is a solid, diverse neighborhood and North Winton Village is another one. Maplewood in the NW Quadrant and SouthWedge are a couple of others that come to mind, but I'm not sure how integrated it is in terms of interaction.

My apartment complex in Brighton had good diversity but most people were just polite and kept to themselves, like we'd say hello but not really hang out together.
My neighborhood now in Henrietta has great diversity and there's more mingling and friendliness. Neighbors help each other out too like if someone goes out of town they'll ask their neighbors to keep an eye on their house and water their plants or that kind of thing. If an elderly person is struggling with something like putting out their garbage cans a neighbor will rush over and take care of it.
I worked for a health insurance company in Rochester for 9 years with a very diverse group of people and we were friends outside of work, went out together often, had each other over for get-togethers, etc. I left that job right as the pandemic was starting so sadly I lost touch with most of my old work friends.

Rochester always rates very high when it comes to volunteering, giving, caring.
