Hello,
I was looking on the rochester police department's website the other day and saw that they have an exam scheduled for october. I couldnt find anywhere that said RPD is hiring and couldnt figure out how to take this exam. Is anyone else out there involved with RPD or their hiring process?

I'm not sure if Rochester Police is hiring either. I know last summer they had banners up above the 490 that they were. My best guess would be to call city hall or a police station.

This page has city hall and the police department numbers:

Go to the city of Rochester website. There is usually a place where you can sign up for the exam through there. Thats how I did it. The tests usually occur in the later months of the year.

Good luck. I hope you know someone to give you the test ahead of time because the hiring process is corrupt as hell.

In what way is it corrupt...a friend of mine is hoping to get in, he is attending MCC Criminal Justice now. do you just have to "know the right people" to get on.

Its not corrupt. I know people that were "connected" that didn't get in because they couldn't pass the background check process. These were relatives of RPD officers.

Knowing the right people improve your odds greatly.

Knowing the right people can mean you have the police exam with answers ahead of the test.

Obviously they were not really connected if their relative knew of their issues and didnt fix them.

But keep believing that the RPD is clean. It wasnt long ago that the RPD police commissioner was thrown in jail.

he wasn't thrown in jail for a corrupt hiring process. And it doesn't get more connected than having a parent in the RPD

Corruption is corruption, it manifests itself in many forms. What they were caught for was the tip of the iceberg.

A parent who isnt smart enough to know his kid with a criminal record cant get in unless the record is FIXED? I guess thats why hes a RPD cop.

With connections like those who needs enemies?
