You know you live in a small town when all the poll workers greet you by name as soon as you enter the polling place on election day ... but the law says they still have to look at your ID before they let you sign the book (even though they already have it opened to your page by the time you get to the table).

Ours generally drops packages off where we work in town or with neighbors or family members who work in town. Beats driving all over the countryside!

You know you live in a small town when you work for a radio station there and a listener texts you to tell you there's dead air or other technical mishap occuring on air (Hey, it does happen.. you can't monitor 24/7)

The school board meets in the only tavern in town...

...it helps move meetings along. When finished, THEN they'll have a beer. Or two.

True place.

There's a golden retriever roaming around your local hardware store.

You know you live in a small town when it doesn't even have a radio station.

You dial a wrong number, and the recipient of the call knows who you are, and the phone number of the person you tried to call.

When one of the local doctors home phone number is one digit different from your number and you get his calls frequently.

You know it is even smaller when the patient who gets the wrong number asks you to call the doctor for them and ask him to call them back because its long distance.

Even worse, you actually agree and call the doctor for them and he actually takes the message.

This actually happened to me many years ago when I lived in a small town.
