Unless there are no living parents... the parents are the ones with the responsibilities to guide their children. And if they cannot give that good example, a church or maybe "big brother" like organizations can help. Maybe a local community organization???
Really... why would any "smart", "thinking", "will strong" person be so easily tempted to a bad habit like that is beyond me. If they use an excuse (anyone excuse) to let their own brains turn to mush by drugs / any addictives (temptations)... they have only themselves to blame. It would be between self & God then... maker and that soul.
Living in a small northern town, it seems like the only thing for some people to do is drink, especially on Sundays when Packers games or other sports are on TV. It's just a huge part of the culture here. I admit, I take part my fair share. I think people have gotten a lot more serious about not drinking and driving, though. There have been a couple well publicized cases around here where children were killed by drunk drivers, and I think at least this has raised awareness about how serious the issue is.
There are drug and alcohol problems everywhere. I live in a community of about 350 and see more alcohol problems and hear of more Illegal precription drug problems (pain relievers) then traditional illegal drugs like meth and marijuana.
