HouseSitter was filmed in a very nice-looking small town. It helped that the house looked amazing.

Broadway Rhythm - I'm not into musicals, but this movie makes rural life and barns look amazing. Here are some scenes in a rural setting:

Those scenes made me realize how much I miss going to my village as a kid. For some reason I find hay and barns romantic. I love the thought of a barn wedding, barn party and I wish there were shopping malls at the city that had hay laying around (some sort of rustic/rural interior design) lol.

My favorite movie about a small town and set in a small town is Funny Farm with Chevy Chase. Filmed on location in Townshend, VT.

The TV series......."Heat of the night "....was based on a fictitious town named Sparta Mississippi.

The filming, however, was done in Hammond LA and later switched to Covington Georgia.

Elizabethtown, not necessarily a great movie but I did like the small town settings and the 'road trip' feel to the movie.

Most of the small town scenes were actually filmed in Versailles, Kentucky.

Only two scenes portraying distinctive landmarks were filmed in Elizabethtown because many of Elizabethtown's historic buildings have been replaced by chain stores and sprawl. A few scenes were filmed in LaGrange, Kentucky.
