I am sure many of you are in the same boat we are. In a small town, playing slug bug is pretty pointless. For one, you know where the slug bugs will be parked. But when the winning score is always 3, it gets a little old.
My 5 year old son really wanted a new game, so we made up Tractor Factor (well my DH made it up). Depending on which road you drive on, there is always a good 5-50 tractors. Get a little further out of town and that number goes up! My son and nephew think Tractor Factor is an awesome game. When they are yelling 'Tractor Factor Yellow' or 'Tractor Factor Green', it can become a tongue twister. As you can see I have little in the way of entertainment, lol.
My father started a game called deer. Anytime you see a deer be it a real one, statue in someone's yard or a deer sign, (even john deere tractors/equipment, although this is still under contention) you get a point. I have three boys and it got pretty violent in the back seat playing slug bug. This takes that away.
we do a version of XXX pickup trucks with my great-nieces. The driver picks a color and that is the color of the day. the 3 girls get a kick out of it, and so do we. When my nephews were younger we'd do the license plate game on the way to the beach. alphabetical, made them learn without them realizing they were learning!
