Hey city-data, it's been a year or so... We have settled in nicely and now we want to go hunting for blackberries. We know there are bushes along the American River around Howe and are going there tomorrow to see if they're totally picked-over already. Anybody know some good spots that they'd be willing to share, in case we have no luck in the morning? I hope we don't have to resort to a pick-your-own farm, but I suppose in the worst case scenario, Impossible Acres does look VERY tempting...

Just upstream of Discovery Park under the huge canopy of Fremont Cottonwood trees there is another cluster of wild blackberries. This part of the bike trail can be a little sketchy, fair amount of homeless people riding around, not many non-homeless people, but it has several areas with wild grapes and several areas with blackberries.

Anywhere there is water, normally.

I pick them several times a year and this year isn't turning out all that great due to the dry winter.
