We are looking to move back to CA after trying OR & NV. Our son & grand children live in Napa - way too pricey for our Sr. Lifestyle - so we would like to be close enough but not too close to the family. We both grew up in So CA and moved to No CA in our 30's raised our family in Cloverdale & Santa Rosa and retired to OR then NV. There is NO Better Weather than CA so we are hoping to find someplace in CA that is affordable and we can be content there. Both of us have siblings spread throughout CA so the logical & practical thing for us at this age is CA. We have been looking at Elk Grove because it has the proximity to the Sacto VA Hospital / Clinic and husband is a Vet using the system. We have Sunday set up with a Realtor to drive by and check out the 'physical' makeup of the houses we have seen online...on our way in to Napa we made contact with this Realtor and she has been sending us listings online so now we are going to see what it feels like. It has been interesting reading the posted info about Elk Grove thus far.......

welcome back to California, I'm a native of California but spent the past 14 years in Reno. My husband just retired so we sold our home and bought a house in Carmichael & you/re right - there is no better weather than CA. Our Reno Jan 2014 utility bill was $335, Jan 2015 in Carmichael was $70
