I'm looking for a senior apt for my mother who is asian and found one with
a decent asian population and community within and outside of the complex. It is near 5th and I Street, close to the shopping center and asian community center, and next to Amtrak. Apparently there is also a light rail service and it runs down to a new Safeway on 19th and Q St.

This being a downtown area, you're probably going to have to be more careful than say in some suburban neighborhood.

My question is (especially to those who are living there and are in the know): how safe is downtown and that area? thanks in advance

Bad air, lots of traffic noise, tons of bums.

There are a couple of senior apts in Midtown you may want to look into. 1 is near K and 18th and there is another around H and 23. Midtown is A LOT safer than downtown.

That's not a good place to live in Downtown

There is a bigger asian community around q st and 5th...more south part of downtown (not to be confused with South Sacramento)

And Midtown is MUCH better then Downtown

And East Sac is much better then Midtown, and I know there are assisted living homes in East Sac too
