Well, it's all still in "the works" - but I'm job searching - both here in Seattle and Sacramento. But my husband says if I find the right job in Sac (as in enough money to sustain the family while he job searches) we can go

It's been a little rough - for every 25 resumes I send up here in Seattle I see only a few opportunities in Sacramento.

I've had 6 interviews in the last two weeks and just today I had one from Sacramento!! They want me! OHHHHH If I was only there already. They are forwarding my resume to another position that open up later...just in case we make the move sans jobs, in the summer

Hi City Girl - we are in the same position - trying to find work to relocate from Chicago. There are many jobs here, but not too many there and most want local applicants. We are professionals with excellent work records, experience and I have an advanced degree, but still it is slow. I would love any suggestions you might have.

We have planned that if one of us gets a job that person will move and settle into a rental while the other stays behind working, looking for work and selling the house.

Good for you, CityGirl. I know you have been wanting to come back down for some time now. I have no doubt you will be here pretty soon.

hey guys.....good luck to you. I just wanted to say I ended up turning down the job in Sacramento at the last minute (sad....but I just had to, a conflict of interests thing with my current employers). Thanks for the suggestions before and I hope you get to make your move!!! I still love Sacramento and I've found that its so much easier to get a job there than in other places (such as Colorado) from a distance!!!

Economy wise, it's probably the not the best time to move into the Sacramento area. There was a front page story in The Bee this morning stating that the unemployment rate here is almost a full percent higher than the state average with no relief in the intermediate future. According to the article, since the Central Vallley is at the epicentre of the foreclosure crisis, it has really created a ripple effect for the entire economy here.

Very true IF you move here without a job. However, if you land a stable job BEFORE you move, the poor economy makes it a buyers market. I have noticed prices of housing starting to go down, restaurants easier to get a reservation, service is a little better because they have to try harder, etc.

Obviously no job is 100% stable, but the key to enjoying Sacramento is linked to your employment.
