But don't worry, it will be 64 at 4 AM. That's so great... can't wait for that. Temps will be cooling around... mid October, what great weather we have here.

About an hour ago my husband and I sat outside in the shade of our redwood tree and drank margarita's. Not sure what the temperature was (in Carmichael) but it was very pleasant in our yard.

For one thing, get a newer car with good a/c, get an apartment with a strong a/c, and don't go outside during the mid-day hours. That's what I do in this hot, hell-hole called Phoenix.
yep, Phoenix is hotter than Sacramento- but so are Redding and Bakersfield.

ahhh...the benefit of an older established neighborhood vs newer build. My trees are still too small to provide much shade in the backyard.

I agree and that's one of the reasons we bought where we did. Years ago I lived in a brand new subdivision in Vacaville with NO trees, spent a ton fixing up the backyard and thoroughly enjoyed looking at it from inside the house

Plus & Minuses & trade-offs for sure. I'm not willing to live that far away from the freeway since I'm still working. I love my location & my house. The house is insulated really well, so i can run the a/c ad lib with very low bills.

I agree, if we were working we would probably have spent the extra $ and moved to South Land Park or Curtis Park. We were super lucky with this house, a contractor had owned it and basically rebuilt it from the studs (not to flip, but with the intention of staying here). The highest electric bill we've had in the 10 months we have lived here was last month - $40. We have a gas tankless water heater, gas stove, gas heat and dryer and our gas bill averages $9 a month. It's so stupid cheap that we keep wondering if they have made a mistake and one day we will get an 'adjusted bill'. In Reno our gas and electric was around $350 in the winter, $300 in the summer

How long were you in Reno? I've visited several recently, and I find nothing there. It's a great place to drive though...hmm, sort of what a lot of people say about Sacramento.

14 horrible years. We moved there because my husband had a job offer he couldn't refuse, we ended up staying until he retired. I hated it - it's boring, windy and cold.

At least people in Sac have the option to drive 2 hrs and spend the weekend in the mild climate of the Bay Area. No such refuge for people in Phoenix.
