Does anyone have experience with the 1801 L street apartments? My wife and I will be moving to Sacramento soon and we are set on living in Midtown because it will be close to her job and we are looking for an urban setting with bars/restaurants/etc. in walking distance.

We recently took a tour of the complex and neighborhood and thought everything looked great but just looking for input from current Sac residents.

Also does anyone know how bad it would be to do street parking in that area? 1801 L charges $150 a month per vehicle.

Street parking in that area is hideously bad, both day and night. Urban settings and walkable neighborhoods don't generally have a lot of parking. Pay the $150.

With three restaurants at the corner of 18th and L you certainly won't starve. The fourth corner has Zanzibar Trading Co. for the unusual, collectible and hard to find. I concur, pay the $150. It's easier to safely park the car than suffer the headaches from constantly having to find a space then move it every two hours. The apartments are new, there's plenty of night life and everything is within walking distance. You could do a lot worse.

Studios about $1000, 2bed/2bath around $2000. Zanzibar Trading Co. went out of business, they were overpriced as heck and there are plenty of cheaper (or expensive but better) places to get unusual and interesting home furnishings.

Are you sure they didn't just move? They were there not too long ago. They also carried some rather unique items at what we feel were fair prices. We also routinely received discounts as we purchased items from specific artists not found in other local establishments and it saved us travel to San Francisco and Los Angeles.

I'll have to go by tomorrow and see what's up. I know they were looking for a larger space.

Not sure, but they were vacant when I walked past a few days ago, with no sign of where they had gone.
