Hey guys what are my internet provider options. I am trying to avoid Comcast as there is free cable where I am moving already.

There is Qwest which covers the whole state, I believe. There is also digis High-Speed Broadband Internet and VoIP in Utah & Idaho Depending on where you live, there are usually some other options too.

I'd stay away from Digis Network. Used them when we first moved to Herriman. Had to drill holes in the roof for their antenna and their service sucks. Poor response times and it goes down often. Haven't had any issues with Qwest which is now under another name that escapes me, but the service is fairly priced and delivers. I use the 12mps service and it screams. No need to load any special software either.

I had Quest when I lived in Colorado and it was good. What about Xmission? Is it basically 3 horse race btw Comcast which is out for me and these two I just mentioned?

Dcisive-CenturyLink I have heard some good things about Xmission, but have never used them myself.

Well, I have had Comcast for YEARS and never had a problem. I had Qwest (now CenturyLink) for DSL when I moved here and had problems all the time. I quickly changed to cable over DSL.

I will, begrudgingly, echo SouthernBelle's sentiments, because I pretty much loathe Comcast. We don't have cable TV, and we don't have any of Comcast's other services, but their internet service is much faster and much more reliable than Qwest/CenturyLink's DSL or any other options that are available to us. We grumpily pay them ~$60 every month because of those facts.

I've used xmission and absolutely loved it! Comcast is crappy, digis isn't worth paying for. Xmission only went out a total of two hours in a year and a half, and they sent an email explaining why and apologizing. As for comcast, it's been more than that in the last month, no apology. Digis was great when they first came out, but then they started throttling which doesn't work for anything like streaming netflix.

Must depend on where you live. I haven't had any outage in at least 8 months. And then it was due to a pole being hit by a car.
