We are moving out to Utah next month and will be in the Tooele/Stansbury Park area. Just curious how much snow we can expect to see in the winter?

I love snow so I hope we get some!

Too much if you ask me...Honestly, this really depends on the winter. Last winter, as a whole, Utah was pretty dry. We can get lake effect snow too and Stansbury gets less than Tooele because we sit a little lower in elevation.

Thanks Katidid!

Does Stansbury ever get a couple of inches of snow or more? Or times where it snows for a few hours? Or does it just snow and melt away? I love the snow.

Yes You will see and get your snow. Last winter was the driest EVER on record. It was a fluke. They are expecting a good winter because of the el nino weather pattern this year.

OK, I will make you a real deal ...
When you get here, and when it does snow, you can come to my place and shovel it away to your place for free !!

Remember that snow is like an elephant.
Nice to look at, but a mess to clean up after it does its *job* ...

At least we can look at it for a short while and enjoy the view.
Actually never had to *deal with it* for days at a time like in other areas of the country ...
The City services are pretty good at clearing the roads, to say the least ...
But why do they have to plow it in front of my driveway ???
We have a creek on the other side of the road !!!

Don't get me wrong, I like looking at it, but ....

Dear bdb,

It is NOT always this way !
Once and a while if we are (un)lucky.

Glad you saw the *humour* in it !

On the other hand, If I am lazy, I never get out of the driveway .
The bloody driveway goes upwards .
You should hear the comments of my wife then ...

But ... , always make the best of it, no ?
After two hours sweating, Son comes over with his snow-blower, so we decide to make a fun job out of this mess !

We are also excited for winter. I lived in Utah for 5 years of my adult life. Moved away for 6 years. Then we (my husband hasn't lived here before) moved here in May 2011. We had lived in the Phoenix area for almost 3 years prior to the move to the SLC area. I was so sad at the lack of snow last winter. I'm also getting my hopes up for a good snowy winter. We have a snow blower, so I don't mind if it dumps

Yikes ... , Draper huh ?
Too far away from me !

I really should get a snowblower !!

BTW, does a snowblower have a *height adjustment*, just like a lawn mower ?
Reason I am asking is the fact that half of my drive way (actually way more than half ...)
is gravel, and each time my son helps us, we get rocks all over the lawn, which I only notice when winter is over ...
