My family and I have decided to move to SLC. it is a new start for us. I have a family of 6 (me, my husband and 4 kids, ages 1,2,3 and 8) and I dont know anybody in Utah. I need advice on how to get started on the move. What part is the least expensive to get started? Low cost housing? jobs? temp agencys? Are there weekly apartments? The easiest and fastest jobs to get.
I know there are smaller cities to SLC so please help me on a good place to get started for me and my family. We are not LDS ( don't think that matters) SLC sounds very welcoming to all backgrounds
Thank you in advance for all your help

Hello and welcome!

I would start by getting registered right away and poking around on the state's Department of Workforce services website (jobs.utah.gov). That way, you can get a good idea of who is hiring and where the types of jobs that interest you are located. You could also start applying right away to give yourself a head start on the job hunt. You don't mention what kind of jobs you're looking for, but my sense is that the job market in Utah is pretty good, especially compared to Las Vegas. Temp agencies are a a good place to start - many of the manufacturing and warehouse jobs start out as temp to permanent types of job placements. I'd suggest that you job-hunt in Salt Lake County, Davis County and Weber County.

As far as housing, I don't think weekly apartment rentals are very common. Housing would be less costly in the Ogden-Layton area, and rents tend to increase as you get closer to Salt Lake City. Rather than craigslist, I'd suggest using the classifieds at ksl.com for look for housing.
