I'm looking for a good elevation map of the basin to see what streets are actually flat, and what streets are slightly inclined, for the purpose of bicycling. The best I found so far are:

Elevation of Salt Lake City,US Elevation Map, Topography, Contour

https://www.topozone.com/utah/salt-l...alt-lake-city/

Seems like the flatest areas are near the 15, and are about a 10 foot incline per city block, which is fine. Towards the east it seems to get to 20 feet per city block, which is a bit much for daily travel. Does this seem right?

Just to satisfy my curiosity.

I was looking at the second link and want to know how do you know which way the lines are coded?
I happen to know the area I was looking at but if you are not aware then how do you know which way it goes up or down?

The word "city" there has a brown line with a 4300 (feet) above the "y". Above that is a brown line with a 4340 (feet). So you are going up if you head up and to the right.

Why do you need a flat street? Get those legs pumping.

Well I certainly do plenty of walking, jogging, and bicycling for exercise, but for daily commutes it's nice to map out easy paths.

Oh, and thanks for bicycling instead of driving!

Thanks, the 7.5 index size seems to give some good details.
