Anyone have any good (or bad) experiences with lawn care companies in the Salt Lake area? The lawn at my new house has major grub damage, so I think this is a job for professionals.

I just use a local company. I am not sure if they do out in Salt Lake or not. I feel for you on the grub issue! We started having an issue with them in our yard a year or so ago. Luckily, we spotted it pretty quickly and were able to get them under control. Have you asked your neighbors who they use?

I use Action Lawn and Garden - since I moved here 8 yrs ago. Very good people. They do weekly mowing and also have a lawn program where they come out several times a year to put down fertilizer, weed control, pest control, etc.

Chemlawn is the worst! They don't fix the problem. Scott's Lawn Care has been wonderful! We have used them to fix both of our houses. Each of them had tons of weeds and grubs. Our first house had more weeds than grass and in one season we had the best looking lawn on the block. We have had a lot of people comment on how good our lawn looks. They are great to work with. If the weeds and grubs don't go away in two weeks they will come out and spray again for free.

Unless you have no time yourself to fix the problem, then find a pro to do it.

I had the same problem and solved it by using a liquid (sold at Lowe's) that got rid of them in one season.
You need to manually water the lawn, not using your auto sprinkler system.
Then using the *Miracle Grow* fertiliser jar, to spray the lawn with that liquid. Just use one of those oscillating sprinklers, and move after 30 minutes or so.
Next, If you mow the lawn yourself. make sure that the blade is *super sharp*. Cut the grass at the highest setting of your mower.
ALso fertilise 3 times a year with Scotts lawn stuff that eliminates weeds.
Every month, fertilise with Miracle grow (blue powder stuff)

I have a grub free lawn that is thick and lush ! No grubs, no dandelions.

OTOH, I think I am crazy to spend that much time an a lawn that does not produce anything but heartaches ....
What am I trying to do here ???? Impress the neighbours ?????
