Is it just me or does EVERYONE seem to be down with some kind of cold/flu/allergies these past few weeks??? I know all to well about the Mountain Cedar allergies...personally. But this year I am seeing folks that have never been bothered before really suffering from something.

I can not ever remember so many folks complaining of feeling rundown, seemingly getting better after about a week and then relapsing a few days later.

Several have had 101+ fevers with it. ALWAYS get my flu shot, but this year has been rough on more folks than seems the norm.

Is it just the NW side of town that is feeling this way???

At work it has been bad too.. I think the flu bug is running rampant. Heard there were a few outbreaks in some schools. That could be what some of it is... that combined with the allergy crap and you got a lot of people sniffling and coughing...

Allergies are really bad this year. Mine are usually pretty mild, but they have been crazy they last couple of weeks.

Yep. Allergies are worse than ever. I get them every year so it's no big deal. I just take an allegraD every morning and use flonase. My husband has them this year and he NEVER is bothered with it.

I have to tell you what I have tried this year and it really works. I know this sounds gross (I thought the same thing). I bought one of those neti pots. I use it every evening, my allergies are more than cut in half. I can actually breathe through my nose now I got it at Walmart and it was well worth the $13. I was even considering doing the sinus surgery (YUCK!!!) but after using this for a couple of weeks it has helped tremendously.
NeilMed Products - Sinus Rinse, Nasal Rinse, Sinusitis, Rhinitis, Allergies (http://unimedprod.com/netipot_1.shtml?gclid=CPn-1_js-pACFReQGgodJx1l0g - broken link)

edit: Oh yea, I forgot to add that I have been cutting cedar trees on our ranch every weekend for the last 5 weekends and I should be dying right now. This thing is a God send. And for the record, I hate cutting cedar but I do it for exercise because I have absolutely no power to make myself workout (my friends think I'm crazy, but hey it works for me. I've lost 10 pounds so far this year)

*knocks on wood* I have not had any allergy problems, so far...but...

About 2 weeks before Christmas I started running a fever...and then a fever and a horrible cough.

After a week, it was not getting any better and I went to quick care.

A couple x-rays later, full blown pneumonia!

The doctor said if I had waited another week I would have been in the hospital.

After about 5 weeks, I finally started to feel human again.

I had a run in with walking pneumonia earlier last year, so looks like I am a candidate for the pneumonia shot and an annual flu shot.

Now I am playing catch up on my honey do list. LOL

It has been bad in South Carolina as well. Pneumonia has been on the rise in our area. The doctors office I work in has been bombarded with calls and patients coming in. What seems to be the best for it has been otc mucinex dm. But always check with your physician before taking any type of medication.

This has been my worst year in SA since we moved here in 2004. I usually don't get sick but this year I've had runny nose, cough, scratchy throat, fever and other ailments off and on. I'll be doing much better and then it comes back. Weird.

I don't know what it is. I guess it's the allergies. They finally got to me.

I haven't tried the neti pot, but what I do that seems to help with my Mountain Cedar allergy is to start taking the prescribed allergy medicine in November. I have done this the last few years and I do not suffer as much in December through February.
