Seriously, if you're stressed step outside and take a break or have a beer when you get home. In fact do WHATEVER you want within the bounds of legality when you get home. But keep it outside work.

I know everyone is tempted from time to time to be less than professional and we're human and it happens occasionally, but this isn't just kind of questionable or a grey area, it's so obviously a what-not-to-do example. And she did it repeatedly.
But the issue is that it wasnt a problem at email #1. It wasnt a problem at email #50. It most likely wasnt a problem at email #400, except that someone's butt was on the line for something else and suddenly they were offensive.

Which is BS. The fact that it wasn't a problem at e-mail #1 is just more evidence to prove that it's a disfunctional workplace. Two wrongs doesn't make a right, it's still not okay that she sent those e-mails in the first place.

It's not ok and I certainly dont advocate it. At the same time you dont wait until it gets to 400 emails to just up and fire someone. The fact that it was allowed to get to that many is certainly an indication that something is wrong at St Phillips and it is unfortunate they are making an example of someone to correct the problem.

I had an employee once that was insubordinate towards me. I called them on it on the spot. I didnt wait until they had been insubordinate for years to say "hey you have been insubordinate for years, you're fired".

Nip it in the bud and get on with it. That is the only point I was trying to make. Well that and the skeevy way they got caught.
