Has anyone used a reliable, honest, and cost-competitive moving company in San Antonio? I did a search and found 1/2 Price Movers in town. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

We've actually used United twice (once for a cross-state move) and once for a cross-country move. Of course they contract their work out... but they're insured, bonded, and they wont ********* over as long as you pay.

Have them give you a quote that says you will pay NO MORE than whatevers on the quote. Some places ********* over where they give you a quote, go weigh the vehicle, and charge you a lot more and hold your items hostage.

I had a great experience with A Lot For Less movers - it's $60 per hour for two men and a truck if they don't have to pack any boxes. They moved me out of a packed two BR apartment and into our new house in less than 4 hours, and even made a detour to drop off a couch at a friend's house.

Do not use A-1 Movers (210-333-8181). They damaged eight pieces of my mother's wood furniture and would not take responsibility for it. They also overcharged her. My mother is 74 years old and sick. She tried to take care of it on her own. She called and told them about it. They apologized and told her they use a emergency furniture repair company to take care of these things and they would be contacting her. They did refund the $50.00 they overcharged her. After a week, no call about repairs. She called A-1 back and they apologized again. Said they would have the repair company contact her. No call.

After a month she called A-1 movers again, they said my mother was a liar, that she sat around all day looking for things to blame on them. He shouted at her so loud I could hear him across the room. I don't have exact names of the person but I have the company name and phone number.

I'm sorry to say there are so many people out there like this. Hopefully, no one else wil have to go through this.
