Interesting.. Like I said, the only reason I'm using my own is because I already had it. If it ever craps out, I'll probably just use Timewarner's.

there is no lease fee for their modems, ergo they wont give you a discount.

i asked when i had their crappy service. cant believe they charge you a lease fee for a wireless router in their wireless package!

You can use your own modem, however, there is no lease fee for TWC's modem. It is lent to you free of charge while you are subscribed to either Road Runner or Earthlink Broadband. There is an unreturned equipment charge should you forget to return TWC's modem after discontinuing. The free 24 hour tech support should be enough to convince subscribers to simply use TWC's modem, since tech support is limited on customer owned equipment.

I am actually glad this thread popped up. My modem seems to be on its last legs, but TWC will only replace it as a last resort after they check every iota of my wiring. Might just go buy my own and end the hassle.

If you're willing to take it to one of their service centers, TWC will swap any of their equipment, no questions asked. I've swapped modems that way 3x over the years.

Thanks!! I searched high and low for the answer to that very question and never could find out. Of course if you ask TWC then they start talking about the lines again.

Although this thread is old I wanted to update for someone having the same question, do you pay a monthly for a time Warner modem. I searched and found Time Warner DOES charge 2.50 a month, it stated Internet Modem lease 2.50 monthly

Zero for the modem itself. I know they charge something for a wireless router, but you can use your own wireless router or not use a wireless router at all if everything you use is hard-wired. I wonder if many of the people who posted earlier were confusing the two.
