While there's a lot of bad news these days, it's stories like this that can make us all proud to be San Antonians!

Quote:
Special Needs Student Crowned Homecoming King

SAN ANTONIO -- The day after senior Drew Boynton was crowned homecoming king, he was still proudly wearing his bejeweled head piece.

This popular 17-year-old has Downs syndrome and Autism -- and a whole lot of personality and huge following.

When his name ended up on the ballot, fellow students, even his competition, voted for him. (Full story and video)
Props to all the students at Alamo Heights High School!

Cheers! M2

Honestly, I didn't expect this kind of response from anyone, even you. Why would anyone feel bad about the homecoming queen? Did you ever stop to think (yeah, I know, it's a novel concept ) that maybe young lady who won homecoming queen may have been one of the many students that supported him for king?

This is one of the best stories of last week, between it and the other one about the kid running cross country who stopped his race to carry an injured competitor a half mile to help, both are a reminder that there are some great young folks in the world!

All the students at AHHS are to be commended for this noble act, and such a comment only solidifies why certain small-minded individuals are on my ignore list. I actually viewed that post hoping to read something positive and encouraging; but once again, some things never change...
