So here's the deal, my 4 y.o. son is determined that he & Grandpa (Grandpa is driving out from San Diego right now) are going fishing. We are not fisher people and I have NO clue where they could go! We are on the NW side in the "50" zip...ANY ideas of where there is a pond (real or faux) or any other bit of water they could drop a line in? I don't care if it actually has fish in it or not! I just want them to be able to at least have the chance to have some Grandpa/grand son time.
Ideas appreciated

You can fish at Brackenridge Park.

Here are some other places in town to fish. TPWD: San Antonio - Take Me Fishing

I think you need a fishing license to fish anywhere, at least Grandpa does. I don't think kids under 17 need a license.

Thanks! But that is quite a bit farther than we were hoping to travel. We only have "Grandpa" here for about 2 days so need to do something close if possible....I'd even fill a kiddie pool if I have to but don't even have one of those ;-) Anyone know anything on the NW side?

There are a couple of ponds on the Leon Creek Greenway (between Babcock Rd and Prue, the large of the two being closer to Babcock). I am not sure they have fish in them but I've seen some ducks there.

If you're in the '50, maybe Medina Lake would work? Most places around here that hold water are still empty from the drought.

You can drive out to Castroville, it's not that far, just down 90 or the back roads if you know 'em. Here's the link:
